Your personal data – what is it?
Personal data refers to a living person who can be identified from that data. Identification can be by the information alone or in conjunction with any other information in the Data Controller’s possession or likely to come into such possession. The processing of personal data is governed by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Who are we?
North Cockerington Parish Meeting (NCPM) is the Data Controller. This means it decides how your personal data is processed and for what purpose.
How do we process your data?
NCPM complies with its obligations under the GDPR by keeping your data up to date; storing and destroying it securely; not collecting or retaining excessive amounts of data; protecting personal data from loss, misuse, unauthorised access and disclosure and by ensuring the appropriate technical measures are in place to protect personal data.
We use your data for the following purposes:
- To enable us to provide a service for the benefit of North Cockerington residents;
- To administer records of North Cockerington residents;
- To promote the interests and views of North Cockerington residents;
- To maintain our own accounts and records;
- To inform North Cockerington residents of news, events, activities, and any other matters concerning North Cockerington;
What is the legal basis for processing your personal data?
- Your explicit consent to use your data to keep you informed of news, events, activities, and any other matters concerning North Cockerington;
- There is no disclosure of personal data to a third party without your explicit consent.
Sharing your personal data.
Your personal data will be treated as strictly confidential and will only be shared with other residents of North Cockerington with your consent.
How long do we keep your personal data?
We will keep your data for as long as you allow keeping it, but in any case we will seek your consent to use your data at the annual NCPM by inviting you to complete a Data Protection Consent Form. You have the right to erasure of your data at any time by contacting the NCPM clerk or at the annual meeting.
Your Rights and your personal data.
You have the following rights with respects to your personal data:
- Request a copy of your personal data held by NCPM;
- Request correction to inaccurate or out-of-date personal data;
- Request erasure of your personal data when it is unnecessary for NCPM to retain it;
- Withdraw your consent to the processing of your data at any time;
- Object to the processing of your personal data
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner.
Further Processing
If we wish to use your personal data for a new purpose, not covered by this Data Protection Notice we will provide you with a new notice explaining the new use before starting the processing and setting out the relevant purposes and processing conditions. Where and whenever necessary we will seek your prior consent to the new processing.
